We are now in March, the month where days are going to start to get longer and the nights shorter. It also holds the official first day of spring, Monday 20th March and also Holi, the Hindu festival of colour.
Holi is an annual festival to celebrate the beginning of Spring, which this year falls on Monday 13th March. The date changes each year as it is based around the time of the vernal equinox. The festival lasts a number of days and starts with a Holika bonfire, singing and dancing the night before Holi. The next day, the streets explode with colour with everyone smearing coloured powder over one another, dancing, and using water balloons and water guns. After the fun with colours, once cleaned up - people dress up in the evening and meet their friend and relatives.
This year, we celebrated Holi on Sunday 12th March in the courtyard at Chapter Kings Cross. We had members from all Chapters attend and have lots of fun to a mixed playlist of Bollywood beats, current tunes, plenty of colour, drinks and nibbles.
