Sticking around London for the holidays? It’s officially the most wonderful time of year, and the capital is buzzing with festive feelings. With dozens of Christmas events scheduled in, you’ll want to make sure you’re making the most of Christmas in the capital.

Here’s a list of just a few of our favourite pop-up events for 2019:

SOUTHBANK WINTER FESTIVAL

The winter market at London’s Southbank Centre is a firm favourite in the capital, boasting a magical programme of food pop-ups, festive shows, music and it’s very own Rekorderlig Cider Lodge. Wander through the strip of German chalets offering festive food, drinks and handcrafted gifts, then pull up a seat with a cup of hot fruit cider courtesy of Rekorderlig. Don’t miss out and book to see a seasonal show from a variety of events including a circus, pop-up cinema, cabaret and comedy nights.

CHRISTMAS AT KEW

Kew Gardens sparkling after dark trail returns to West London for the 7th year to light up the botanical gardens this Christmas. Take a walk through the illuminated grounds where you’ll be surrounded by glittering trees, magical laser displays and flickering fairy lights. Complete a walk under the lights and stars with a hot chocolate, spiced cider or mulled wine and gather round the fire pit for a marshmallow toasting to warm yourself up on a December evening.

BACKYARD CINEMA

Snow rarely makes an appearance in London, so Backyard Cinema’s Christmas at the Snow Kingdom is bringing the snow to you this Christmas. The cinema has moved into its magical new Wandsworth venue for the winter and invites you to enter through the magic wardrobe and take a seat for your favourite Christmas films. With a bar serving hot chocolates, mulled wine and popcorn (obviously), Backyard Cinema is the perfect spot to brighten up some of those dark winter nights.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Returning to Hyde Park for the 13th year, Winter Wonderland is London’s must visit pop-up this winter. The fairy-tale event hosts several sub-zero attractions including an ice-skating rink, Magical Ice Kingdom and even ice sculpting workshops. Warm yourself up with some festive treats from the traditional German Christmas market in the extravagant Bavarian Village, or get your adrenaline running on the world’s largest transportable roller coaster. With countless activities on offer, Winter Wonderland is worth the visit, even if it takes you a few trips to work your way around the entire thing!

ICE SKATING

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or more of a Bambi on ice, it never feels quite like Christmas until you’ve had a spin on the ice. London is covered in a sheet of frost between November-January, with spectacular ice-rinks popping up all over the city. Check out our blog on our favourite ice-skating rinks in the capital, including:

FRIENDS FESTIVE

Want to tell Joey that Christmas will be snowwyyyy?! Friends Fest is back and it’s getting festive for Christmas 2019. The Truman Brewery in Shoreditch are hosting the ultimate Friends Festive event where you can visit your favourite sets dressed for the holiday season. Pay a visit to the Holiday Armadillo’s grotto, recreate the iconic titles in the snow, and enjoy some themed food, cocktails and an ultimate Friends quiz. You’ll want to hurry though – tickets are limited, and the event is only running until 21st December!
