Review of Spitalfields

I like that it's in the city centre yet it's still quiet. For this area I do think it's good value for money.

Review of Spitalfields

It's not too crowded here yet everything is local, I like that. Compared to other places in the area, they were dull and the students don't talk to each other. I'm happy because I tried (another student accommodation building) and I wasn't happy. I'm happy here.

It's close to my University, the tube station and it's very central. Everybody is very friendly, the events are a great way to interact with everyone. All of the staff have been really helpful.

Review of Spitalfields

I like its proximity to two tube stations, thus offering many different tube options, helpful when maintenance work is being carried out. The maintenance staff are excellent. Its also really close to King's Cross, this is great for when family come to visit.

Review of Spitalfields

I really like the location; I can walk to Uni, I can walk into town whereas other students I know have to walk a lot further to get anywhere. I like that we now have a ping pong table and that it is fairly cheap to live here.

Hidden away down a small side street near Liverpool Street Station, this is a super cool American diner serving all day breakfast alongside hefty burgers and fries. There’s even a secret underground bar with a thirst-quenching list of cocktails – just tell the staff you’re there to see The Mayor.

FAQ

Do I need to have a UK based guarantor?

A guarantor can be anyone who is not a full time student, and they do not need to be a UK resident. Your guarantor will take responsibility for any unpaid arrears during your tenancy period.

Can I pay my booking fee over the phone?

If you’re having problems booking online don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will do our best to help. If needed, payment can be made over the phone.

Is there an age limit for booking accommodation with Chapter?

We have no upper age limits on our accommodation; however, we do need residents to be over 18 for England and Scotland, and in full time education. This is due to the legally binding tenancy agreement that each tenant is required to sign before living with us.

How secure is the accommodation?

We have CCTV in and around each property, a key card entry system for the main entrance, common areas, each flat and bedroom. There are also spy holes in each flat and bedroom door and 24/7 on site staff.

Do I have to pay council tax?

Students don’t have to pay council tax in the UK, however, payment exemption doesn’t happen automatically so you will need to inform the council that you’re a student. As your accommodation provider we cannot do this on your behalf, you must apply for council tax exemption yourself.

Do I need a TV Licence?

All TVs provided by Chapter have licenses. If you bring your own TV or if you want to watch or record programmes as they are being shown on any other device, such as your mobile phone, tablet or computer, you will need to apply for and pay for a TV License.

What if something in my flat breaks or isn’t working?

Let us know as soon as you can, either by email or by visiting reception. Our onsite team are here to help 24/7.

Can I have pets?

No, pets are not allowed under the terms of your tenancy agreement.

What happens if I don’t get on with my new flat mates?

We want your university experience to be a good one so if you are having any issues with flat mates please let us know. We will do our best to help resolve any problems you might be having.

Can I receive post and parcels?

Yes, your flat has its own lockable mailbox in our mailroom. You will receive your mailbox key when you arrive. If a parcel arrives for you, we’ll let you know by sending you a text or an email. You can then collect your parcel from the post room. For security you will need to provide photo ID and give a signature to confirm collection. Post will not be given out to other residents on your behalf without written authorisation.

Can I live with my friends?

We are more than happy to accommodate groups as well as individuals, simply let us know who you’re planning to live with and providing we have the availability it shouldn’t be a problem.

Am I allowed to live with a partner? How much will it cost?

Two people can share the bigger studios at select properties, there is an additional rent of £50 per week for dual occupancy. Please contact the property or sales team to organise this. Please note, both inhabitants need to be full time students, studying at least 20 hours per week.

What appliances and furniture are included in my room?

All rooms come with a bed, desk, chair, wardobe and chest of drawers. Extras such as kettles, toasters and lamps vary property to property, room to room. Please check the room details on the website or contact the relevant site directly to find out what will be included in the room you have booked.

I’m not a student. Am I allowed to stay in a Chapter property?

Unfortunately, we are only able to offer accommodation to people in full time education, studying a minimum of 20 hours per week. We can also accommodate students on internships and sandwich courses, on the provision that the placement is directly related to your course of study, and you will be returning to full time study when it finishes. If you are not sure whether you qualify, please contact the sales team.

When will I have to make my payments?

The due dates for payments for the 1,2 and 4 instalment plans will be as follows: 1 payment, due 31/07/2017 | 2 payments, due 31/07/2017 & 09/01/2018 | 4 payments, due 31/07/2017, 03/10/2017, 09/01/2018 & 17/04/2018

Please note we do not accept American Express and there is a 2.5% charge on credit card payment and some international payment platforms. You can also make a payment through a bank transfer, via a company called Pay to Study.

All your bills – water, electric, gas, internet, gym and use of all the social spaces – are included in the price. There are no hidden charges, what you see on your contract is what you pay!
