Last Thursday at Chapter Portobello, we welcomed some of our residents to the ‘Dragon’s Den’; going up against some senior Chapter Management to present their business ideas for critique and the hope of hypothetical investment from the panel.
With the stage set and our Dragons raring to get stuck in, up first was Marcus and his ingenious app, which combines the leftover ingredients in your cupboard to create a tasty meal, using a Monte Carlo algorithm.
Next up was Eketerina, demonstrating her up-and-coming fashion brand with an excellent presentation.
Lastly, we met Charlotte, promoting herself as a talented makeup artist/stylist/photographer, with an impressive artistic portfolio and some striking photography to show off. There was also some stunning pieces of clothing handmade by Anya Magee on display in the foyer, including this incredible dress.
Despite our Dragons grilling, the young entrepreneurs all gave composed and informative presentations on their business models, and what the future could potentially hold for them. Chapter’s Head of Sales and one of the Dragons, said ‘it was fantastic to see how much talent resides within Chapter Portobello, and great to see people applying their studies and experience towards their future goals.’
We also made the most of the heatwave from last week by enjoying a BBQ out in the courtyard, handled by our grill master Stephon. It was lovely to share a beer and burger with our residents, and especially for Marcus, Eketerina and Charlotte to unwind after going head to head with the dragons.
It was a great day for everyone at Chapter Portobello to get together, and for us to meet some of the passionate, forward-thinking minds we have staying at the property. We wish them all the luck with these and any future endeavours, and should they ever find themselves in front of the real Dragons, we’re sure they’ll handle it with as much cool and poise as they did today.
